I love combining literature and art, and now that I am creating the week's theme and activities on a book, this is a great activity for us.
This week our book theme is Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. We have been doing a lot of activities to go along with this book, including our stART project for this week.
I thought that our project this week would go along with items found in the book. I drew a balloon on easel paper for Sprout and gave her red paint and comb to paint the balloon.
After trying this for a little while, we found that it wasn't really working for us. (Sprout did not like getting paint on her fingers. Even when I showed her that she could just wipe it on the paper.) So we changed over to using a paint brush. Sprout was much happier with this option.
Here is Sprout's final project.
To see what other stART projects people did this week. Go to A Mommy's Adventure.
I like how you incorporated things from the book, into the art project.
ReplyDeleteSo fun!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute idea... My oldest was quite particular about messy hands as well. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great project! We love painting with all different "brushes" we have actually never tried a comb, I will have to add that to our activities for this week :0)
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to stART!!!
How sweet. She looks like she was really enjoying it once she had herself settled. Great idea for the craft too.
ReplyDeleteI found out as well that using non-conventional painting tools almost never worked out for us. The only one she loves is trains and balls. The book, of course, is loved by all :)
